About me
I am an accomplished educator with extensive experience in both primary and secondary education. Currently serving as the Education and Outreach Coordinator at the University of Memphis' Center for Applied Earth Science and Engineering Research (CAESER), I leverage my background in environmental geoscience to enhance community engagement and education initiatives. I am also a member at large on the board of Tennessee Environmental Education Association (TEEA).
I hold a Master of Science in Environmental Geoscience from Mississippi State University and a Bachelor of Science in Special Education from Georgia Gwinnett College. Before my role at CAESER, I dedicated nearly a decade to classroom teaching, progressing from an elementary self-contained special education teacher to a middle school lead science teacher.
Currently, I lead impactful education and outreach events, reaching over 7,000 participants in 2024. Additionally, as CAESER's social media creator and manager, I extend CAESER’s reach to an even broader community audience. A passionate speaker, I present on various education and environmental topics throughout the Southeast.
My philosophy centers on the belief that education empowers individuals to enhance their lives and the lives of others, fostering a better world for this and future generations. This vision aligns seamlessly with both the TEEA’s and CAESER's mission to strengthen communities by advancing environmental and social conditions through collaborative research and education.
